We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated GP with a dynamic proactive approach to patient care to join our forward-thinking, friendly multidisciplinary Team.

Main Duties of the JobThe successful candidate will be expected to undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with General Practitioners working in Primary Care.

About UsWe are a 5 Doctor practice serving over 7350 patients, and are in purpose-built premises in the village of Murton, County Durham.
Our Team includes 2 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, a well-established Nursing Team, Pharmacy Team, and a hard-working Management, Reception and Administrative Team.
We are a training and teaching practice and part of North Easington PCN, with an extended multidisciplinary team of First Contact Physio, Primary Care Mental Health Nurse, Trainee Nurse Associate, GP Assistant, and a personalised care team of Social Prescribers and Care Coordinators.
We are a member of South Durham Health Federation and are CQC rated 'Good' in all areas.
Job ResponsibilitiesJob Summary
The post-holder will deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered patients.
Clinical Responsibilities
The post-holder will undertake a variety of duties including:
- Surgery consultations, telephone consultations, messages, investigations, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers.
- Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and offering preventative medical advice.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness, developing care plans, and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to accepted GMC standards.
- Recording data to support the Quality and Outcomes Framework targets and clinical audit activities.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever clinically appropriate.
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Other Responsibilities within the Organisation:
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g., prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health, and safety.
- A commitment to life-long learning, audit, and peer appraisal, to ensure evidence-based best practice.
- Contributing to training of GP Registrars, medical students, and the nursing team.
- Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the Practice.
- Contributing to the upkeep of computer-based patient records.
- Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
