Senior Business Data Analyst - Specialty Insurer

Opportunity for a Data Consultant to work with business users in a specialty insurer to identify opportunities for data transformation and innovation.

A compelling opportunity for a Senior Data Analyst, to join a world-leading specialty insurance firm based in the City of London. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team aligned to driving transformational change across the organisation and will be the Data SME for the team. We are seeking strong communicators who are comfortable working with business users and stakeholders to understand data landscapes and translate into value add opportunities for change.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with various stakeholders to capture and interpret data needs from various sources and translate into technical specifications for actionable data solutions which support commercial decision making.
• Play an integral role as the Data SME of the Analysis team, working cohesively with BAs and Developers to ensure requirements and prototypes/POCs are accurate to user needs.
• Support the guiding the off-shore capacity from a data perspective.
• Ensure all requirements are fully documented as user-stories, features, Epics and proactively ensure that the wider team fully understands what is needed.
• Assist the business in User Acceptance Testing.
• Contribute to Agile meetings throughout each development cycle.
• Provide data reporting expertise to product teams across the business.
• Share knowledge and best practices for data usage and optimisation.

Skills and Experience:

• 3 years solid experience working across different business areas within the insurance industry.
• An excellent communicator with the ability to present and communicate solutions clearly and concisely with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Data-savvy and experience working with complex data sets.
• Skilled in extracting data across databases and separate files.
• Exposure to an Azure DevOps culture and Agile product delivery methodologies within a DevOps environment (eg, Scrum, Lean, Kanban, XP).
• Familiarity with SQL, Power BI reporting and Excel modelling tools, and an awareness of semantic layer tools.
