Senior Developer

£56,745 to £72,509 per annum dependent on skills and experience (this may include allowances)

Full time

Permanent

Polaris House Swindon or Keyworth, Nottingham (Hybrid working available)

Job Overview

The UKRI CIO Group plays a pivotal role in managing and optimising the organisations critical enterprise technical services that underpin and enable UKRI's business capabilities. Within the group a team of Software Development professionals support the delivery of modern, secure, resilient and scalable services across a larger federated team of Digital, Data and Technology professionals to deliver impact across the organisation and the wider UK research and innovation system.

This post provides a rare opportunity for an experienced Senior Developer to step into a critical role supporting a major agile development underpinning the organisations mission. Working at the heart of research and innovation in the UK you will join a team of technical specialists that enable the successful delivery of services. Reporting directly to Lead Developer, your broad remit is to deliver and integrate software to form a complete service that underpin our critical business process that enable the fulfilment of our mission.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead development on sets of related stories.
  • Have an understanding of the whole system and take responsibility for teaching this to others.
  • Work with other disciplines to understand what needs to be built.
  • Coach and mentor more junior colleagues.
  • Operate the production services you build.
  • Find ways to improve system robustness, resilience and stability.

About you

You will be to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Availability and capacity management
  • Development Process Optimisation
  • Ability to implement security controls.
  • Apply modern development standards.
  • Use the agreed specifications to design, code, test and document programs or scripts.
  • Able to effectively prototype.
