Position Summary

The Sr. EHS Manager is an integral part of the Neogene team and works closely with R&D, Quality, Facilities & Engineering departments to identify and address EHS needs and requirements. Neogene Therapeutics is a global, clinical-stage, biotechnology company and as such, EHS considerations are critical to the continued success of Neogene. You will work cross-functionally with other departments to develop, implement, improve, and sustain EHS processes while assessing the effectiveness of existing EHS programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. The Sr. EHS Manager works at the Amsterdam site and reports to the Director of EHS&S in the United States.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, improve, EHS programs, policies, and procedures to maintain operational compliance with applicable regulations while building commitment to creating a world-class EHS program.
  • Perform as site EHS leader to provide guidance to NL team members with driving continuous improvement in safety performance and environmental sustainability.
  • Provide critical EHS input and consideration during construction and commissioning of Neogene's new, BREEAM certified, Net Zero Emissions R&D headquarters (to be completed in 2026).
  • Assess execution of EHS programs and provide teaching, training, and tracking of results.
  • Drive a culture of safety and environmental stewardship via employee engagement, training, and awareness programs.
  • Manage efficient and effective EHS record keeping and reporting.
  • Drives the execution of EHS compliance and management system auditing.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, to integrate EHS considerations into business processes and decision-making (e.g. Works Council and Biosafety Officer)
  • Identify and mitigate risk via site Risk Assessment & Evaluation (risico-inventarisatie & evaluatie, RI&E) program and act as site Prevention Officer.
  • Supporting emergency response and first aid programs.
  • Prepare and present reports on EHS performance, initiatives, and metrics to senior management and executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with Facilities & Engineering and building landlord as needed.
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.

  • Quick learner who can assess, evaluate, and act on situations promptly.
  • Well-developed computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Fluent in English and Dutch

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of related experience in EHS, including experience in a regulated setting such as biopharmaceutical, biological laboratory, or similar.
