Job Description

We are currently expanding our London team and are looking for a passionate and creative Street Designer to support delivery of our growing project portfolio.

PJA is an independent, design-led consultancy specialising in integrating placemaking, transport, and engineering to create great streets and places. We are seeking a talented Street Designer to join our London Team. The role will be London based, working across a range of different active travel and placemaking projects in the southeast while also supporting colleagues in other offices.

This role will suit individuals who have a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination to deliver high-quality innovative solutions that promote sustainable places, enhanced environments, and transport connectivity. Key responsibilities will include feasibility studies, concept design, and report writing.

Our ideal candidate will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, with proven professional experience in a similar role and proficient in AutoCAD. They will have extensive experience of public highway concept and preliminary design, including signal junctions and high-quality cycle route design. Given the nature of our projects, there is an expectation of working collaboratively and having experience of undertaking community and stakeholder engagement.

They will also have:

  • Good knowledge of best practice design standards
  • Good knowledge of Healthy Streets and Low Traffic Neighbourhoods

The following would also be desirable:

  • Project management, report, and bid writing
  • Knowledge of urban design and masterplanning
  • Experience of cost estimation
  • Experience of working with/in local authority
  • Strong graphic design skills
  • Use of Autotrack or Autoturn, GIS, and Adobe InDesign
  • Off-highway cycling and walking route design and development
