Senior Tax Manager

This major, FTSE 100 multinational retailer, with offices in London and spanning international locations, has an opening for a highly motivated Senior Tax Manager to assist the Group Head of Tax on an interim basis.

You will be experienced in effectively networking and partnering with multiple stakeholders across the business, have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think quickly on your feet and deliver solutions that go beyond existing ways of doing things.

Your key accountabilities will include:

1. Working closely with the Group Tax Manager and the wider team to take ownership of the direct tax compliance and reporting function ensuring smooth and timely delivery of compliance and tax returns as well as the planning and delivery of the external reporting at year-end.
2. Ownership of feeding into the design, setup, and testing of the S4 Hana system from a tax perspective including liaising with and securing input from the various tax subject matter experts within the wider tax team and external advisors.
3. Acting as a subject matter expert on Direct tax and tax reporting matters, assessing the impact on the group of the various tax-related developments and providing updates and guidance on the same to the necessary stakeholders.
4. Supporting the direct tax manager with the calculation of tax payments, forecasting, and budgeting process.
5. Proactively identifying/appraising tax issues and opportunities including preparation of any necessary board/director recommendation or approval papers.

Your skills and experience will include:

1. ACA/CTA/ACCA qualified.
2. In-depth knowledge and experience of UK taxation including management of the compliance cycle and consolidated tax reporting process.
3. Robust accounting knowledge and understanding of the tax provisioning and journaling process.

Suitable candidates will be available to start a role at short notice and the contract will initially be for a 6-month period. A hybrid working pattern will be on offer as well as an extremely collaborative tax team.
