Senior/Chief Cardiac Physiologist - Echocardiography

The community diagnostic centres (CDC) will enable patients to have their diagnostic tests within the community & they will not need to travel to Hospital unless required due to results. The creation of the CDC adds value to a patient's pathway by increasing capacity for diagnostics & supports both outpatient & imaging transformation.
The north-east London (NEL) community diagnosis centre service provision is anticipated to include the following services:
- The targeted lung health check screening programme (TLHC)
- The prostate screening programme
- Expansion of the general ultrasound service
- Expansion of CT capacity
- Expansion of MRI capacity
- Expansion of cardiac echo
There is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Band 6 or Band 7 Cardiac Physiologist/Highly Specialized Echocardiographer/Cardiac Scientist to work competently in a busy Echocardiography Department, based at Mile End Hospital. The post holder must be able to rotate to one other hospital site within the Trust network & be part of the weekend rota to deliver 7 day NHS. They will perform complex-level tasks unsupervised or supervised (working towards unsupervised) & assist senior staff as needed. They will work autonomously as a senior staff member within the non-invasive Cardiac Diagnostics department, assisting senior staff with managerial tasks. They will also supervise, train, guide, & support staff in the performance of their roles & provide support to senior staff members.
Main duties of the jobAn experienced Senior Band 6 or Band 7 Cardiac Physiologist/Highly Specialized Echocardiographer/Cardiac Scientist is required to work competently in a busy Echocardiography Department. The post-holder will be required to perform complex-level tasks unsupervised or supervised (working towards unsupervised) and assist senior staff as needed. The post holder must be able to rotate between Mild End CDC and one other hospital site within the Trust network. The post-holder will be required to work autonomously as a senior staff member within the non-invasive Cardiac Diagnostics department, assisting senior staff with managerial tasks. In addition, the post-holder will be required to supervise, train, guide, and support staff in the performance of their roles and to provide support to senior staff members. The successful post holder will be expected to join the weekend rotation for inpatient cover.

Person Specification Qualifications- BSc Clinical Physiology (or international equivalent)
- Good knowledge of transthoracic echocardiography
- Full BSE/EACVI accreditation
- Immediate Life Support
- Well versed in basic diagnostic skills expected of a band 6 cardiac physiologist or higher
- Experience on Hands on Transthoracic echo
- Experience in delegating tasks
- Experience in mentorship of junior colleagues
- Experience being responsible for small sections of the cardiology service
- Ability to work in and contribute to a team environment
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Ability to cope with a heavy workload
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload and demonstrate initiative
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to use Microsoft (Word & Excel) applications
- Knowledge of current professional issues
- Knowledge of a CRS(patient electronic system)or similar system
- Willingness to learn new skills and undertake personal development
- Reliable, polite and helpful
- Punctual and an effective timekeeper
- Expected to work at other sites across the Trust as required
- Expected to contribute to out-of-hours and/or weekend work
- Knowledge of the data protection act and an understanding of patient confidentiality
