Structural Engineer - Birmingham

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Birmingham Building Structures team as part of an exciting plan to expand and grow our Building Design practice across the Midlands and the UK.

Our multidisciplinary practice delivers integrated engineering solutions across a wide range of building and infrastructure projects. We are proud to play a key role in some of the world's most challenging and innovative engineering projects across sectors including Education, Commercial, Residential, Defence, Energy, and Transportation.

Requirements

  • Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Graduate Member of IStructE or ICE.
  • Working towards or achieved Chartered Membership (IStructE or ICE).
  • Proven experience designing structures with steel, concrete, timber, and masonry according to Eurocodes.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software (experience with Robot Structural Analysis and Revit is a plus).
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new software and technologies.
  • Interest in digital engineering, automation, and parametric design.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to support client relationships.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and make decisions.
  • A curious and open mindset, valuing the exchange of ideas.
  • Willingness to travel or work in other offices for short periods if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Apply your technical expertise to a wide range of building structures and engineering challenges.
  • Develop conceptual designs and carry them through to detailed solutions.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver results within budget and time constraints.
  • Conduct research, data collection, and prepare information for presentations.
  • Present design outcomes to clients under the guidance of senior project leads.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality and Technical Assurance Procedures.
  • Work with BIM standards and follow project-specific BIM Execution Plans.
  • Gain experience with parametric modelling and coding (such as Dynamo, Python, or C++) as part of your development.
  • Attend site visits and design meetings, representing the project team.
  • Mentor and assist the development of junior staff and apprentices.
  • Stay proactive in self-development to maintain technical excellence across the team.
