Substance Misuse Speciality Doctor

Doctors Direct have an exciting opportunity for a Speciality Doctor to work with us at Islington in Substance misuse, Psychiatry.

We are looking for a doctor dedicated to, and passionate about, improving health and wellbeing within the Islington Community working for Islington Better Lives Drug and Alcohol Service. This role is based across 2 sites in Islington - one at Kings Cross and one on Seven Sisters Rd.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
Providing day-to-day front-line clinical services
Assessment of drug and alcohol use and dependence and co-morbid psychiatric and physical health problems
Initiate treatment and sign-controlled drug prescriptions.
Psychiatric assessment, treatment, reviews and referrals
Community alcohol detoxification and substitute opioid prescribing (detoxification and harm minimisation approaches)
Initial medical assessments, treatment reviews, dose reviews
On-site or satellite clinics in hostels/ home visits/hospitals
Liaison with local treatment services and partners
Supporting the building of pathways between mental health teams and the physical health teams
Attending team meetings
Clinical supervision of non-medic prescribers, other clinical staff and medical students
Undertake clinical audit and quality improvement
Continuing professional development
Teaching of medical students, junior medical staff & MDT staff
Supporting the team around teaching professionals in the wider trust as needed around SMS

Days per week: Mon - Fri, 09:00-17:00
Start date : ASAP
Rate of pay: Negotiable
Payment method: PAYE we do NOT facilitate payment through LTD/umbrella companies

About you:
Valid GMC
Right to work in the UK
Clinical attachment complete - We do not offer placements in the NHS
Minimum of 6 months paid experience in the NHS/UK
