We are currently hiring a Personal Tax Counsel to provide compliance and consulting services to a high-net individual. This role will be an individual contributor coordinating with other integral and key stakeholders. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex tax compliance, tax planning, trusts, and closely held entities.
The right individual must be excited about handling multiple priorities and complex initiatives and be able to adapt in a dynamic work environment. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate high integrity and discretion as they will be trusted with handling highly sensitive information.
Job Description
The main duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- Manage day-to-day tax matters for the shareholder and shareholder's businesses.
- Provide holistic, comprehensive & complex tax planning to facilitate the financial goals of the high net worth individual.
- Serve as a trusted advisor by providing seamless service alongside multi-discipline teams.
- Assist with the preparation and review of tax returns and the related workpapers for individuals, gifts, partnerships, S-Corps, C-Corps, and trusts.
- Assist with developing automated and standardized tax processes and accounting processes.
- Resolve complex technical tax issues, consult with experts, and communicate research findings to senior management.
- Liaise with lawyers, trustees, accountants, and other external advisors effecting family-directed strategies.
- Collaborate with tax and accounting professionals of shareholders' companies.
- Review monthly reporting.
- Assist with other tax projects as required.
- International tax knowledge and experience is required.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Licensed CPA and JD or LLM required.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting or Taxation.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience working in the tax field.
- 10+ years of tax consulting & planning experience serving high net-worth individuals.
- Proficient in pass-through entity taxation, individual taxation, foreign taxation; with an understanding of complex business operations and investments as well as the related tax implications.
- Familiar with multi-state and multi-country taxation.
- Ability to work independently, as work is done remotely.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and comfortable with engaging with business executives.
- Analytical skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Advanced skills in Excel.
- Highly effective listening skills.
Compensation:
- Salary $300,000 plus bonus.
- Full benefits package available.
