Job Description

We have the opportunity for a Tax Manager to join our Finance department here at Tokio Marine Kiln. You will report to the Head of Tax and will assist them in on direct and indirect tax matters for the Tokio Marine Kiln Group (TMK) and Tokio Marine Underwriting Limited (TMUL). The expectation is that the successful applicant will take on more responsibility as they develop and demonstrate capabilities.

The role includes responsibility for:

  1. Corporate tax quarterly provision work, including expense analysis, preparing general ledger tax journals and reconciling BS tax balances.
  2. Providing information to, and addressing queries from, the third party service provider responsible for TMK and TMUL's UK Corporation Tax returns.
  3. Supporting with Lloyd's tax related reporting, including US and Canadian SIS return work, UK Syndicate returns and PE certification.
  4. Calculation of QIP amounts and liaising with Treasury team to arrange payments.
  5. Working with the Head of Tax on corporate tax related advisory, compliance, project and analysis work.
  6. Preparing the TMK and TMUL element of the UK quarterly VAT group return in accordance with the PESM agreed with HMRC, including annual adjustment and CGS numbers, and preparation of journals following submission.
  7. Providing responses to Finance colleagues and the wider business in relation to UK VAT queries.
  8. Preparing and submitting the quarterly UK IPT return for TMK's insurance company (in run-off) and arranging payments or monitoring repayments.
  9. Researching and responding to Lloyd's related IPT related queries from underwriting teams.
  10. Reviewing benefits provided in the year to staff, for PSA purposes, and assisting in determining the amount of tax payable.

The successful candidate will be a degree holder or will have a professional qualification in accountancy. They will also have demonstrable experience working in a tax or accounting role. They must also be computer literate and comfortable using Microsoft Excel. We are looking for an analytical thinker, who demonstrates professionalism and adaptability.
