Description Of The Role

We are seeking a candidate to join our Theatre Consultancy team in the UK as a Theatre Consultant (Team Leader). You will be responsible for leading projects within our EMEA portfolio, coordinating our internal design team, and ensuring our deliverables are executed to the highest standards. It would be advantageous for you to have prior experience with theatre technical systems, either as a theatre practitioner and/or systems designer and/or experience as a team leader or project manager.

As a Team Leader, you will likely be an experienced theatre or events practitioner, ideally with a proven record in project management and a strong interest in shaping the next generation of performing arts and events spaces. Domestic and international travel may be required.

You will report to one of our Associate Directors, and your project assignments and workload will be managed by your line manager. We will provide role-specific inductions and ongoing training to help you succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Act as Team Leader on projects in the EMEA and Asia regions, ensuring that project demands are met.
  2. Act as the main interface with clients and collaborators, coordinating with our internal design team.
  3. Arrange and chair internal project meetings, including start-up meetings and design workshops.
  4. Collaborate with our designers to specify and design technical theatre systems.
  5. Compile interim and end of design stage reports, including budgets for our specialist packages.
  6. Lead and participate in site visits for commissioning and construction progress.
  7. Produce fee proposals and scopes of service for potential new projects.
  8. Expand your knowledge of the theatre and construction industry through self-led research.

Qualifications & Key Skills Required

  1. Minimum five years' experience in live performance or event venues.
  2. Good understanding of the technical infrastructure of a performance venue.
  3. Demonstrable project management experience with proven people motivation skills.
  4. Professional experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and CAD viewing software.
  5. Excellent communication skills through various mediums.
  6. A strong understanding of environmental and sustainability issues.
  7. Higher education qualification or completion of a Technical Theatre/Production Arts course is desired.
  8. Experience in working with a distributed global team across different time zones.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize a diverse workload.

This position will require occasional travel, including international/overseas travel.
