Team/Role Overview
The Regulatory Reporting team within Finance is responsible for preparation of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly returns to Central Banks and other policymakers.
The UK Corporate Chain Controller is a senior professional managing a team with responsibility of Prudential, Statistical and Statutory returns for the UK's Broker-Dealer and Corporate Chain entities (non-bank). Returns include those submitted to the Prudential Regulation Authority ("PRA"), the Financial Conduct Authority ("FCA") and the submission of Financial Statements to the Companies House in compliance with the Company's Act within the UK. They are also accountable for additional regulatory returns submitted to US regulators the Securities Exchange Commission ("SEC") and Commodity Futures Trading Commission ("CFTC").
What you'll do
- Ensuring correct application of relevant accounting principles and compliance with statutory audit requirements.
- Lead and manage the UK Corporate chain team.
- Oversight over UK Prudential and Statistical returns, including Common Reporting ("COREP") for CGML, to local and overseas regulators.
- Effective management and oversight of any new or amended regulations with respect to Prudential, Statistical and Statutory returns and daily monitoring, with particular focus on the implementation of CRR 3.
- To be the Controller senior stakeholder as part of the UK Senior management.
- Ensure the annual management report, including climate risk related disclosures, are compliant with the Companies Act and International Accounting Standards as adopted in the UK.
- Manage the external audit engagement for annual financial statements.
- On-going oversight of monitoring and reporting of Daily Capital Adequacy for the UK Broker Dealer, Citigroup Global Markets Limited ("CGML").
- Coordination of responses to regulatory queries relating to financial reporting.
- Review and challenge financial activity through the New Activity Approval process and Permitted Product Lists for in-scope legal entities where required.
- Effective challenge and oversight of any proposed dividend distributions.
- Identify and manage risks as appropriate including day-to-day management of the relevant Management Control Assessment ("MCA") process.
- Oversight and management of key programmes/initiatives impacting financial reporting.
- Review and challenge the legal entity financials, ensuring that expenses including transfer pricing are correctly attributed and are booked to the right entity.
What we'll need from you
- Subject matter expert for UK and US GAAP, as well as a proficiency in UK CRR, demonstrating technical experience in these areas.
- Experience in people management.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
- Ability to work across functional areas.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
- Master's degree preferred.
