YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Program Oversight:
    • Deliver comprehensive training programs for victim advocacy series, ensuring adherence to established standards.
    • Oversee Victim Advocates by managing workloads, reviewing reports, and maintaining service excellence.
  2. Training and Development:
    • Develop and implement initiatives to improve advocacy services.
    • Create and execute contingency plans ensuring continuous service delivery during staffing shortages.
  3. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including medical, social service, and law enforcement personnel, to deliver integrated support.
    • Facilitate briefing and education sessions enhancing advocacy strategies for personnel and leadership.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field from an accredited institution.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in victim advocacy, including crisis prevention and safety planning.
  • At least one (1) year of Emergency Placement Care (EPC) coordination experience within a Military Family Support Center or similar civilian agency.
  • Valid, unrestricted motor vehicle license.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Certification in Victim Advocacy is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge and Expertise:
    1. In-depth understanding of risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis intervention techniques.
    2. Strong knowledge of family violence dynamics and relevant federal and state laws.
    3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office for professional documentation and training material development.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
    1. Exceptional ability to connect and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    2. Skilled in presenting information effectively in briefings and educational sessions.
    3. Adept at building trust and fostering relationships with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Leadership:
    1. Proven ability to lead training programs and oversee team performance.
    2. Competency in managing workloads and maintaining high service standards under challenging circumstances.
    3. Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute contingency plans.
  • Service Mentality:
    1. Commitment to providing compassionate and professional support to individuals and families in crisis.
    2. Dedication to maintaining a client-first approach within all interactions.
    3. Focused on achieving excellence in advocacy and support services.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Work Environment:

  • This position requires flexibility to operate during extended hours. Flexibility for on-call hours may be required to meet mission needs.

Schedule:

  • Standard hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and transport materials for events and displays.
  • Mental and physical readiness to manage high-pressure situations involving victims and their families.

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be available for regional on-call travel to provide VA and PSB-CY services (within a fifty (50) mile radius).
  • Long-distance travel may be required for training, including one (1) Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) and one (1) Continental United States (CONUS) annual event.
