We are looking for a dedicated Accounts Assistant to support our finance function within a small yet busy finance team. This role is integral to our operations, requiring a candidate with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to managing tasks. The successful candidate will also assist with credit control by posting cash receipts for both trade and pre-paid accounts.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Handle general email enquiries such as copy invoice/statement requests.
  • Set up new customer accounts and manage monthly statement/weekly debt chase runs.
  • Post daily BACS transactions and release held orders in line with delivery requirements.
  • Support the credit control team with the management of key customer accounts.
  • Conduct aged debtors' analysis and follow up actions.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Credit Manager as required by the department.
  • Perform various administrative duties and cover the Purchase Ledger department when needed.
  • Assist with bank reconciliation tasks and support other areas of finance as necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven work experience as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Good understanding of both Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger functions.
  • Credit control experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Solid data entry skills with high levels of attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Confident Microsoft Office user, including Word and Excel.
  • Initiative to perform tasks without being asked and to bring new ideas to improve team processes.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of accounting practices and bookkeeping.
