Business Development Manager

Location:
London or Swindon with remote working.

Salary / Benefits:

Circa £70,000 - £75,000 per annum, plus car / allowance and package.

Company Information:

Working for a fast-paced principal Civil Engineering contractor, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Development Manager to actively manage their brand across the UK Infrastructure and associated Construction Market Sectors.

To be suitable for the position you must have:

  • Experience working in a similar role within the Civil Engineering / Construction markets.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of working on major infrastructure works such as tunnelling, structures, bridges, viaducts, or similar.
  • Knowledge of relevant procurement legislation.
  • Strong presentation and client communication skills.


Although not essential, it would also be advantageous if you have:

A Degree / Qualifications in Civil Engineering or relevant discipline.

Role Responsibilities

  • To engage with existing, new, and potential clients to promote capabilities and abilities of the business.
  • Identify and track new business opportunities within the company's chosen business sectors in line with the Business Plan.
  • Ensure that the Pipeline database is regularly maintained and updated for future work opportunities.
  • Support Pre-Construction Director and Sector Directors in preparation of future business strategy/plan.
  • Chair Sector pipeline meetings, prepare and distribute suitable minutes/actions to discuss current and future opportunities.
  • Maintain industry/competitor intelligence; attend CECA meetings and others as appropriate.
  • Prepare initial Bid Strategy document and opportunity selection matrix for opportunities and prequalification stages.
  • Support preparation of Expression of Interest/Pre-qualification questionnaires produced by Submissions Team.
  • Attend tender kick-off meetings and provide details on early-stage bid strategy, key client personnel, client hopes & fears, and key project goals.
  • Undertake Client satisfaction surveys; feedback details to Sector and Project Managers.
  • Support Communications Manager as required for key sectors/markets.
  • Attend client debrief meetings with Bid Managers.
