Role: Deputy Service Lead - Histology
Site: London, HCA Laboratories (Shropshire House)
Hours: Full Time

Shift Times: 37.5 Hours per week. Monday - Friday
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Competitive dependent upon experience (with excellent benefits)

We're looking for a Deputy Service Lead to join our Histology team at our HCA Laboratories based in Shropshire House. The successful Candidate will have extensive experience of working in Histology and Pathology previously.

HCA Laboratories has over 35 years' experience in providing pathology services, for acute care in our HCA Hospitals, IVF Clinics, Insurance work, healthcare screening and GP services. We cover all disciplines in pathology including allergy, biochemistry and endocrinology, haematology and blood transfusion, histopathology and cytology, immunology, and microbiology and serology, with each laboratory equipped with the best available analytical instrumentation.

What you'll be doing:

  1. Assist and deputise for the Section Head with the day to day & strategic management of Histopathology department.
  2. Assist and deputise for Section Head to manage all non-medical staff, space and equipment allocated to the department to ensure an efficiently delivered service.
  3. Practice as an HCPC registered Biomedical scientist.
  4. Follow HCA Labs standing policies and procedures to ensure an efficient delivery of laboratory service.
  5. Establish and develop departmental policies and procedures to ensure an efficient delivery of laboratory service.
  6. Assist Section Head for the formulation of departmental strategies for the training, supervision and development of all non-medical staff within the department and users of the service as appropriate.
  7. Develop and maintain contingency plans for the department.

What you'll bring:

  1. Degree in Biomedical Science or similar.
  2. HCPC Registered.
  3. Experience in a Histology/Histopathology lab at an Advanced BMS level or above.
  4. Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences.
  5. Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences is desirable.
