Job Description

Are you a dynamic and experienced children's Editorial Director eager to bring fresh ideas to the market? If so, we have the perfect role for you: leading a program of innovative novelty and book products.

From £45,500 per annum

Working hours

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.30am - 5.30pm. We currently operate a discretionary hybrid model, with three days in our London office and two working from home.

About the role

This is an opportunity to help shape a successful and growing children's co-edition list, working with market-leading publishers in the UK and US.

The main tasks will be:

  • managing our in-house editorial team
  • overseeing our frontlist programme of illustrated novelty, book plus and box kit titles
  • ensuring that all titles are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest standards
  • ensuring that we meet and exceed the expectations and requirements of our co-edition partners
  • contributing to the creative direction of the list

About you

You'll be a creative and proactive leader with at least three years' experience in a management role in which you have responsibility for managing an editorial team and driving a publishing programme of. Knowledge of co-edition publishing is beneficial.

You will be able to show that you can:

  • co-ordinate, support and motivate an editorial team
  • facilitate and strengthen relationships with business partners
  • enhance a publishing programme creatively and commercially
  • focus on details while also seeing the bigger picture
  • take responsibility and deliver results
  • manage tight deadlines and juggle multiple urgent tasks
  • negotiate with and provide guidance to authors, designers and illustrators
  • create and oversee budgets and schedules
