The RoleAn exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen within our Estates department for an experienced and qualified individual to join the Energy Team. The role of Energy Manager is essential in delivering energy and carbon reduction management services across NHS GG&C, including managing statutory carbon reduction policies under Scottish and UK legislation.
As part of the Energy Team, you will provide expert advice and reporting in relation to specialist services to senior managers and staff across NHS GG&C on energy, carbon, and environmental issues, ensuring compliance with key environmental control and carbon emission reduction legislation.
The post holder will support the Lead Energy Manager in the management, development and delivery of policy to meet with the Board's compliance requirements of all environmental control/carbon emissions reduction legislation relating to energy sources for example: UK Emission Trading Scheme and Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. You will be expected to have in-depth knowledge of these schemes and been involved in their operation.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Lead Energy Manager in managing compliance with environmental control and carbon emissions reduction legislation, such as the UK Emissions Trading Scheme, Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, Renewable Heat Incentive & CHPQA.
- Provide high-level expertise and advice on energy management development and delivery of carbon reduction strategies and projects.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) and Monitoring & Targeting Software (M&T), showcasing operational expertise during the interview process.
- Represent NHS GG&C in formal meetings with external agencies, including NHS Assure, Scottish Procurement, Zero Waste Scotland, and Resource Efficiency Scotland.
- Ensure effective delivery of energy and environmental services within a multidisciplinary estate function.
- Develop standard operating procedures and policy as technical author to support delivery and reporting requirements.
- A relevant degree in engineering, building services, or a construction-related discipline (or currently working towards this qualification).
- Significant management experience within facilities management (FM), with proven operational experience in a complex building services environment.
- In-depth knowledge of renewable energy systems and their application in large-scale facilities.
- Strong experience in using Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) and Monitoring & Targeting (M&T) software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
