We are looking for a Head of Engineering to join our teams working on our consumer-facing booking and station management products. You will be part of our success story in delivering unique travel adventures to customers around the world and supporting our station teams to deliver a great experience every time.

THE ROLE - YOUR PASSION

• You are the disciplinary and technical leader for multiple software development teams.

• Together with the CTPO, you prioritize needed technical improvements and initiatives.

• You are accountable for the overall architecture of your teams' applications.

• You evangelize best development practices in your teams and encourage (and expect) technical excellence.

• You are responsible for hiring processes and decisions in the engineering organization.

• You work effectively with product management and other departments to develop impactful products and features that meet business needs.

• You question the status quo and anticipate opportunities, backed up by data and facts.

• As a servant leader, you continuously coach team leads and other direct reports to help them grow professionally and personally.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SURF THE WAVE WITH US

• You have significant experience as a successful leader of software development teams, including leading engineering managers or team leads, setting up your teams for success and helping them grow to the next level.

• You have extensive experience in software engineering and system architecture, with a durable understanding of the PHP ecosystem (we work with Symfony), database and storage systems, API-driven frontends and mobile apps (we use Nuxt; Flutter for mobile apps), as well durable experience in cloud-computing (we run on AWS).

• You know what it means to build and release good software to end users with short and meaningful feedback loops (detect, mitigate, improve).

• You have a strong ability to align technical strategies with business goals, including resource planning, budgeting and risk management.

• You have an analytical mindset and can drive engineering decisions based on data and industry best practices.

• You have knowledge of scalable software solutions that accommodate growth in users and geographical markets.

• You have strong communication skills including excellent English, and the ability to communicate with business stakeholders in terms they can understand.
