Senior Director, Facility Management

Location: UK (Remote)

THE OPPORTUNITY

Iron Mountain has a real estate portfolio of 95MSF across 60 countries, with the vast majority being industrial warehouses storing valuable client information and assets. The Global Real Estate (GRE) team supports Iron Mountain's businesses worldwide by providing strategic portfolio planning, capital project delivery, acquisitions and dispositions of land and buildings, lease administration, facility management, and sustainability projects.

Position Summary

The Senior Director, Facility Management, will report to the Vice President, Global Facility Management & Sustainability. This role is a key strategic position in the GRE organization, and the successful candidate will need to possess the skills and experience to be considered a viable successor to the Vice President. Iron Mountain's facility management services are delivered in partnership globally with CBRE, and the successful candidate must have experience working with a strong and collaborative outsourced partner.

Your Role in Our Mission:

The successful candidate will assist the VP in all of the following categories for assigned geographies. In particular, the Senior Director will manage services leveraging a geographically dispersed outsourced team and will be responsible for the following initiatives:

  1. Risk Mitigation: Work closely with CBRE and IRM's insurance carrier to reduce the likelihood of impairments of all Critical Building Systems.
  2. Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with CBRE to build annual budgets (facility by facility) and accurately forecast monthly spend and accruals on a global basis.
  3. Service Delivery including Facility Management: Oversee the quality of service delivery by CBRE globally, fielding questions from business leaders and driving for efficiency and quality.
  4. Business Leader Engagement: Engage with Regional Operations Leaders in NA, LATAM, EMEA, and APAC to deliver FM/Maintenance Capital/Response services and Sustainability projects.
  5. Disaster Preparation and Recovery: Monitor external weather reports globally and ensure facilities are prepared for forecasted issues.
  6. Sustainability and Energy Management: Lead initiatives to reduce IRM's demand for electricity through various projects.
  7. Compliance: Ensure that facilities are maintained in an "audit-ready" condition.
  8. Technical Consulting: Provide guidance on technical issues related to all building systems.
  9. Coordination with Capital Project Delivery: Work closely with GRE's Project Delivery organization for proper forecasting of operating expenses.
  10. Due Diligence of Acquisitions: Collaborate with IRM's M&A team to integrate FM and sustainability services into GRE's global platform.

Valued Skills and Experience:

  1. University degree in engineering, facilities management, or equivalent technical subject required; advanced degree preferred.
  2. Professional licenses or certifications in related fields are desirable (CPM/CFM, PMP, RFA certifications, etc.).
  3. Substantial experience in facilities management and client-facing positions in a corporate real estate setting.
  4. Strong global experience is necessary; experience with industrial facilities is strongly preferred.
  5. Demonstrated expertise in asset, facilities, and property management, project management, and real estate budgeting.
  6. Strong understanding of FM responsibilities related to commissioning and exiting facilities.
  7. Experience building collaborative partnerships with outsourced facility management partners.
  8. Proven success in a matrixed management environment.
  9. Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis.
