Job Description
The role

As a Technical Product Manager - Data, you will be working closely with our Head of Product, Director of Data, and other key stakeholders in the business, and you'll be expected to help steer the direction of some of our most strategic and critical Data Products. These products span from playing a key part in InsurX' visionary direction on the one hand, to forming a robust backbone for day to day operations in a regulated environment on the other.

At InsurX data lives at the heart of what we do. As a marketplace business, we use data to match demand for insurance (from brokers) with the right capacity (capital to back risks) from insurers. We then analyse the market to provide rich data-driven insights back to key decision-makers, helping expand the market into new classes of insurance to provide coverage for the benefit of the most people.

Over half the technical team at InsurX is comprised of Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Analysts. Your job will be to work closely with these stakeholders - as well as technical staff at the Insurers and Brokers we work with (Underwriters, Actuaries and Brokers) - to find Opportunities to deliver genuine value. You'll then be working directly within product squads to deliver exciting new data-led products - dashboarding, insights and reporting tools - to be used by insurers and brokers placing millions of dollars of insurance risk per day.

This role reports to our Head of Product.

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering on a variety of data product opportunities at InsurX, including building out a new Insights Platform for delivering rich data insights to insurers and brokers
  • Leading effective research and discovery processes - with a special focus on using our wealth of internal and industry data to unlock opportunities for delivering value for customers and the business
  • Working within a cross-functional squad to deliver on opportunities you discover
  • Shaping the work, writing good scoping docs and engineering tickets, and managing your workstream and backlog
  • Specifying testing and success criteria for deliverables and product acceptance
  • Evidencing strong prioritisation skills and an ability to manage expectations and commitments to commercial teams and external stakeholders
  • Analysing data and reporting on the performance of initiatives you own
  • Helping to shape our roadmap and reporting on progress to our Head of Product and the wider business
  • Working alongside the Heads of Product and Data to drive data-driven insights into all aspects of InsurX' Product function and the wider business

About you

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a minimum of 5 years experience in Product Management, ideally in a technical PM or PO role

  • Is adept at deriving insights from data - seeking out opportunities and telling compelling stories
  • Can work with external teams on integrations and gathering technical requirements
  • Is capable of bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders - dealing with important commercial clients on the one hand, whilst specifying good engineering requirements and tickets on the other
  • Is a natural collaborator with a track record of supporting multi-disciplinary teams to succeed
  • Is a self-starter, with a diligent, can-do attitude and a great eye for delivering quality experiences
  • Is adept at using various product management & analytics tools such as Jira, Power BI, Figma, Miro, Airfocus.
  • Experience with SQL and common analytics languages such as Python are favourable nice-to-haves.

We'd love to hear from you if:
